So I’ve done it, I’ve found the half marathon I want to do. I’ve gone for the Royal Windsor Half Marathon River Trail Run on the 19th May. My training start this Monday. I’ll be mixing up my training and using my club runs at Sheppey. I’ve had some great offers of support too from some team leaders and runners, I’m really looking forward to it.
So back to the half marathon and why I chose it. The route is in the Thames Valley and starts and finishes at Windsor Castle. As the name suggests it a trail run and we’ll get to run along the river paths. It’s different to any of the other runs I have done previously. It’s a relatively small race with 1500 people taking part. I think that’s just enough to never be running alone.
The course has a 3 hour 30 minute cut off time, I’m confident that I can finish within that time as I did my previous half marathon under 3 hours although I’m not aiming for a certain time, just to enjoy the run and take in the scenery.
I’ll be back for an update next week!
